Happy New Year 2013
On January 18, the College of Engineering (COE) held a year-end meeting and celebration at Lakeview Hotel for all the faculty and staff. Over 150 teachers participated in the event. Mr. Fumin Zhou, deputy director of the Office for Technology Transfer, Peking University, Mr. Wensheng Li, vice secretary of Health Science Center, and Mr. Geng Chen, General Manager of Peking University Science Park joined the celebration. COE Executive Vice Dean Dongxiao Zhang presided over the event.
Dean Shiyi Chen firstly summarized COE’s achievement of 2012 and expressed appreciation to all the teachers. He reviewed the College’s steady progress last year in many areas, including undergraduate and graduate education and globalization, research publications and new projects, faculty recruitment, industrial collaboration, technology transfer and entrepreneurship. He said COE’s achievements in the above areas were extraordinary, and expressed anticipation to better performance in the next year.
College Secretary Professor Wenchang Tan then reported the work of the Party Committee in the past year. The Labor Union made great efforts to enhance the life quality of faculty and staff. The Office for Student Affairs also organized many activities to enrich the students’ college life. Tan wishes all the COEers a happy new year.
In addition, some teachers received awards of recognition for their outstanding achievements in teaching, research and community work in the last year.
In the performance session, the teachers presented the audience a wonderful watching experience with a menu of twelve programs, all directed and played by the COE faculty and staff themselves. The different types of programs, including dances, drama, vocal solo, crosstalk and chorus, won many applauses and acclaims from the audience.
The College of Engineering will be on winter recess from January 23 - February 20 to celebrate the Spring Festival. The College wishes its students, faculty and supporters a Happy New Year!
