Since September of 2009, an Engineering Research Center (ERC) for Revolutionizing Metallic Biomaterials (RMB) was funded by the USA National Science Foundation at North Carolina A&T State University, NC with partners from University of Pittsburgh, PA, University of Cincinnati, OH and Hannover Medical School in Germany. The development and application of biodegradable magnesium alloys will be the main interest. In this technical communication, I will introduce mission and technical organization of the center. Research activities in the center will be briefed.

Magnesium alloys melting and solidification, phase transformation, microstructure-mechanical relationship, amorphous materials, biocompatibility, metal-matrix composites, and fuel cell materials.
