报告内容摘要

Survey of propulsion based on detonation of chemical systems is provided in this paper. After short historical view, basic schemes of engines utilizing detonation are described. Possible improvement of propulsion efficiency due to detonative combustion which results in pressure increase is presented and comparison of deflagrative and detonative combustion are discussed. Basic research on Pulsed Detonation Engines (PDE) and rotating detonation in cylindrical and disk like chambers for different mixtures is presented. Basic principle of engine utilizing Standing Detonation Wave as well as Ram Accelerators is provided too. Detailed description of PDE as well as Rotating Detonation Engines (RDE) is given. Different concepts of PDE are presented and experimental and theoretical research carried out elsewhere is presented. Special attention is given to RDE, since rotating detonation can be applied to all kinds of jet engines including, rocket, ramjet, turbine and combined cycle engines. Also survey of detonative propulsion research carried out at different laboratories is presented and possible future applications of such propulsion systems will be discussed.

Prof. Piotr Wolański received his MSc, Ph. D. and DSc from Warsaw University of Technology. He has worked there since 1966 and became a full professor in 1989. He has served as Associated Dean(1980-1984), Dean(1987-1990) and Pro-Rector(2002-2005). He has also been a professor at the Aviation Institute Warsaw since 1992, and the Second Vice-Chairman of the UN Committee of Peaceful Uses of Outer Space since 2012. His research activities include Hydrogen Safety, Rotating Detonation Engine, Flame and two phase flow with Electrical Capacitance Tomography, Propulsion System based on green propellants. He has collaborated with Airbus, Pratt & Whitney, University of Michigan Ann Arbor, UC Berkeley, Lawrence Livemore National Lab., Nagoya University, Aoyama Gakuin University, Mitsubishi Heavy Industry, Nanjing University of Science and Technology, Northeasten University of China, IHPC and NTU of Singapore. He has supervised 20 Ph. D. thesises in propulsion, combustion and collisions of large asteroids with Earth and Planets, and published more than 300 scientific papers in Polish, English and Russian. He was awarded A. K. Oppenheim Price in 1989, Doctor Honoris Causa of the Azerbaijan Technical University in 1997, Officer”s Cross by President of Poland for achievements in scientific research and education in 2005, Award of the Minister of Scientific and Higher Educations in 2012.
