报告内容摘要:
The transport phenomena involved in a polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cell (PEMFC) are complex and strongly coupled. These phenomena take place over a wide range of length scale, from nanometers of the catalyst to meters of a system. Models on PEMFCs in the past decade have been mostly developed following the divide-and-conquer strategy, namely, focusing on the components of a membrane electrode assembly (MEA) - including the membrane, catalyst layer, microporous layer/gas diffusion layer, or beyond the MEA – including bipolar plate and fluid channels, stack and fuel cell system. Computational methods such as CFD, lattice Boltzmann method, pore-scale model, molecular dynamics have been employed to study certain transport phenomena for some components, yet a holistic approach to deal with the multiscale, multiphase and multicomponent problem in PEMFC is lacking. In this talk an overview on the current status of modeling and simulation for PEMFC will be given, followed by discussion on the roadmap for a systematic development of a truly multiscale simulation.
