报告内容摘要:
Flows in modern aero-engines constitute some of the most complex flows ever found in nature and in engineering. The flows are featured with 3D unsteady phenomena mainly caused by the alternating moving and stationary blade rows in the engines’ turbomachinery, namely compressors and turbines. The situation is made much worse due to the fact that most of the blades are operating at a moderate Reynolds number range which is transitional. And accurate prediction of the transition, which is almost a mission impossible, becomes critical to a designer. Further more, the turbulence in the blade rows are driven by 3D shears and usually non-isotropic and non-equilibrium. This series talk will present the understanding of the turbulence in modern aeroengines and the modelling of turbulence as the key issues for CFD and experiment alike.
Part 1. Flow features in modern aero-engines and the correspondent fundamental problems related to turbulence researches;
Part 2. Introduction of using low speed large scale experimental facilities to study the complex flows in turbomachinery and aerodynamic similarities with compressibility effects;
Part 3. A Case Study – Route to rotating stall and the role of turbulence mixing in predicting the stall inception.
